Does bike insurance cover transit damage?

Yes. BikeInsure covers accidental damage — with optional theft protection — to your bicycle or e-bike while traveling, including when mounted on a vehicle bike rack during auto transit. Accidental damage coverage also applies while you travel by plane, train, bus, or boat, provided the bicycle or e-bike is protected in a hard-sided case.

Cyclists often drive to trailheads, group rides, cycling events, and riding destinations. If a covered accident occurs and a motorist crashes into the mounted bicycle or e-bike, the policy provides transit protection for the insured equipment.

Coverage does not apply to misplacement or mysterious disappearance, loss of items stored inside accessories, or theft while the bicycle or e-bike is in the care, custody, or control of a commercial delivery service, courier, airline carrier, or freight service.
