Trek Madone SLR6
Last September, I wanted to compare bike insurance with Markel and Velosurance for my Trek Madone. I went to the USA Cycling website and came across BikeInsure.
The USAC official bike insurance BikeInsure proved to be a better product at a better price for accident and theft coverage than the Markel Velosurance policy.
I am now a reviewer for BikeInsure because I had a bike accident at the Tour of Newport News, damaging my top tube, frame, saddle, and GoPro Hero 11. After getting an estimate from my TREK Bike Shop, I filed a claim with BikeInsure and received a check for $6,708.

Pinarello Dogma
Had it not been for BikeInsure, I'd be screwed.
My BikeInsure'd bicycle was recently stolen when a thief violated my life and stole my bike, which had my prosthetic arm still attached to the handlebar while I was training for the Paralympics.
BikeInsure promptly paid me $10,000 just days after I filed my claim. The claims adjuster was kind and efficient. I was relieved and grateful for the quick and compassionate service I received from BikeInsure.

Canyon Ultimate
I was riding my 2018 Canyon Ultimate in California when I crashed after hitting a pothole.
I took my bike to Summit Bicycle in Palo Alto for an evaluation. Luckily, I have BikeInsure! The bike shop gave me a written estimate for my bike insurance claim to fix the required handlebar and Shimano derailleur issues. The total damages, including parts, labor, and tax, amounted to $654.31.
Thanks to USA Cycling for offering BikeInsure, the bike shop fixed my Canyon, and I only had to pay the $100 bike insurance deductible.
My USA Cycling membership has more than paid for itself, and my bike remains BikeInsure'd!

What is BikeInsure?
BikeInsure is a U.S. bicycle and e-bike insurance provider offering specialized cycling equipment coverage for accidental damage, transit damage, and optional theft protection.
BikeInsure is a leading provider of bicycle and e-bike insurance in the United States. As a licensed insurance producer, BikeInsure is the official bike insurance partner of USA Cycling, the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), USA Triathlon, and select bicycle brands, including Canyon USA, Pivot Cycles, and Tern Bicycles.
The BikeInsure program is underwritten by Great American Insurance Company, rated A+ (Superior) by AM Best, and authorized to operate in all 50 states and Washington, DC.
During enrollment, customers select one of three coverage types based on how the cycle is used — Bike Ride Insure (Casual), Bike Race Insure (Competitive), or Electric Bike Insure (E-Bike) — with limits up to $50,000. Coverage protects against accidental damage during riding and transit, with optional theft protection. Bike Race Insure (Competitive) also includes worldwide coverage when riding, racing, or traveling internationally.

What is bike insurance, and how does bicycle insurance work?
Bike insurance helps protect your bicycle or e-bike from financial loss if it is damaged in an accident or stolen.
Coverage applies to new or used bicycles, e-bikes, and listed accessories, whether ridden casually or competitively, on-road or off-road. BikeInsure policies allow you to select the appropriate coverage type and Amount of Insurance based on the value of your cycling equipment — the bike and listed accessories — up to $50,000.
Unlike homeowners or renters insurance, BikeInsure is a separate policy designed specifically for cycling equipment, so claims do not affect your other personal insurance policies.

Is bike insurance worth it?
Unlike homeowners insurance, a BikeInsure policy is designed specifically for cycling equipment — with a lower deductible, no impact on home insurance claims, and coverage for riding accidents, transit damage, and theft.
Bike insurance covers financial loss from accidental damage while riding or in transit and theft of cycling equipment — losses often limited, unusable, or excluded under homeowners or renters insurance, even with a scheduled personal property endorsement (scheduled insurance rider).
A separate bike insurance policy, like BikeInsure, provides peace of mind and financial protection for bicycles and e-bikes against riding accidents, transit damage, and theft.
Cyclists can ride confidently knowing their valuable cycling equipment is protected when BikeInsure coverage is in place.
One key benefit is that BikeInsure policies operate independently of homeowners' or renters' insurance. Claims are handled directly through BikeInsure and do not impact other personal insurance policies.

Who underwrites BikeInsure bicycle insurance?
BikeInsure policies are underwritten by Great American Insurance Company, which has an A+ (Superior) rating from AM Best. For over 150 years, Americans have trusted Great American Insurance Company to protect them and render best-in-class service. An A+ rating from AM Best signifies a superior ability to meet its financial obligations.
This indicates BikeInsure is a regulated insurance product offered throughout the United States, backed by a nationally licensed insurer — not a warranty, membership plan, or protection program.
BikeInsure administers the insurance program as a licensed insurance producer in all 50 states and Washington, DC, and serves as the official bike insurance partner of organizations including USA Cycling, the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), and USA Triathlon.

How much does bike insurance cost?
BikeInsure annual policies start at approximately $18 per month for accidental damage coverage and $22 per month when optional theft coverage is included, each with a standard $150 deductible and no additional fees.
The cost of bike insurance depends on three primary factors:
• Usage type — Bike Ride Insure (Casual), Bike Race Insure (Competitive), or Electric Bike Insure (E-Bike)
• Amount of insurance — the insured value of the bicycle or e-bike and listed accessories
• Optional theft coverage — whether Bike Theft Insurance is selected
BikeInsure policies feature a $150 deductible per occurrence, among the lowest standard deductibles available in the bicycle insurance industry.
Coverage territory also varies by usage type:
• Bike Ride Insure (Casual) and Electric Bike Insure (E-Bike) apply within the United States and Canada
• Bike Race Insure (Competitive) includes worldwide coverage territory for casual riding, racing, and international transit with the bike
Examples:
• A $5,000 bicycle (including listed accessories) used for casual riding, training, or individual and group rides can obtain coverage under Bike Ride Insure (Casual) with accidental damage coverage and theft protection for about $22 per month with a $150 deductible.
• A race bike with a total insured value of $3,500 (including listed accessories) can obtain an annual BikeInsure policy under Bike Race Insure (Competitive) with accidental damage coverage for about $32 per month with a $150 deductible, including a USA Cycling or USA Triathlon member discount.
