Does bike insurance cover crash damage in a race?
Yes. When your bicycle is enrolled under Bike Race Insure (Competitive), BikeInsure covers accidental crash damage anywhere in the world that occurs during a competitive cycling event requiring a racing license.
Coverage applies to the insured bicycle and listed accessories during events such as triathlons, gran fondos, gravel races, criteriums, and similar competitions, as well as during training rides and everyday riding included under Competitive coverage.
If a covered crash occurs, the policy pays the replacement-cost value to repair or replace the insured equipment — including listed accessories — with equipment of substantially similar kind and quality, up to the Item Amount of Insurance shown on the Declarations page, less the $150 deductible.
What is covered
- Crash damage during a licensed competitive cycling event
- Damage during pre-ride warm-ups and post-event riding
- Training rides and everyday riding
- Transit damage while traveling to or from the event
- Listed accessories attached to the bicycle
- Worldwide coverage while riding, racing, or traveling internationally
What is not covered
- Medical expenses or injuries
- Wear and tear or mechanical breakdown not caused by an accident
Bike Ride Insure (Casual) and Electric Bike Insure (E-Bike) apply only to non-competitive riding.
Riders participating in at least one competition annually should enroll under Bike Race Insure (Competitive) to ensure crash damage during a race is covered.
