How do I file a bike insurance claim?

BikeInsure makes the claims process straightforward and separate from homeowners insurance. BikeInsure claims do not affect your home insurance record. To ensure your submission is completed properly, gather the required information before starting your claim in the BikeInsure Customer Portal under Claims.

For all claims, please collect:

  • Date of the loss
  • Location of the loss
  • Description of what happened
  • Bicycle details (year, make, model, and serial number – if the serial number is unavailable at sign-up, it can be submitted after enrollment to complete the policy record)
  • Policy number
  • Your contact information (name, phone number, and email)

For riding or transit accident claims, also include:

  • Clear photos of the damage
  • A written repair estimate from a local bike shop of your choice
  • Photos of the bicycle prior to the accident (if available)
  • Invoices for the cycling equipment (if available)

For theft claims, also include:

  • A police report or report number documenting the time, place, and manner of theft, and the security device used
  • Photos of the bicycle prior to the theft (if available)
  • Invoices for the cycling equipment (if available)

After gathering the required documentation, complete the claim form in the portal. A licensed claims administrator works directly with you and your bike shop to resolve the claim.
