Do you need insurance for an e-bike?
Yes. Homeowners and auto policies generally exclude e-bikes, so an e-bike needs its own standalone policy. BikeInsure's Electric Bike Insure covers your e-bike and its listed accessories against riding accidents, transit damage and theft. Filing a claim never affects your homeowners or auto insurance.
The Essential Need for Every E-Bike Owner
A lock can't stop every thief, and a helmet can't protect your e-bike. When these e-bikes were stolen or totaled, BikeInsure paid to replace them.

E-Bike Insurance Answers
Does homeowners insurance cover an electric bike?
No. Homeowners policies typically classify e-bikes as motorized vehicles and exclude them, and a scheduled rider generally won't help.
Which e-bikes can I insure?
Class 1, 2 and 3 e-bikes with a maximum pedal-assisted speed of 28 mph, new or used, including road, cargo, folding, commuter, hybrid and electric mountain bikes, plus e-trikes and recumbents. Electric motorcycles (e-motos), mopeds, scooters and other vehicles outside the three e-bike classes aren't eligible.
Is e-bike theft covered?
Yes, when you add theft protection. Your e-bike is covered if it's stolen while secured, with no immovable-object rule and no required lock type. It's one of the broadest theft definitions available.
