Do I have to lock my bike to an immovable object for bike theft coverage

No. BikeInsure does not require a bicycle or e-bike to be locked to an immovable object.

Different bike insurance policies define theft protection in very different ways.

Velosurance and Markel require the bicycle to be locked to an immovable object. Sundays requires the bicycle to be locked to an immovable object AND secured with a specific pre-approved lock from their approved lock list.

BikeInsure does not require an immovable object or a specific approved lock. The bicycle or e-bike simply needs to be secured with any locking device while unattended — no specific brand or model required.

When optional Bike Theft Insurance is selected, and a properly secured bicycle or e-bike is stolen, the policy pays the replacement-cost value for equipment of substantially similar kind and quality (including listed accessories), less the $150 deductible and not exceeding the Item Amount of Insurance shown on the Declarations page.
